membership
The members’ area is a forum which enables you to contact occupational therapists and support workers globally. The forum facilitates open discussion and sharing of knowledge and resources related to the use of the VdT Model of Creative Ability across a broad range of settings. Members can post a new discussion topic as well as discuss key topics such as assessment, treatment activities and research. It is a dynamic forum that aims to increase knowledge, networking and collaborative learning. Several times in the year, there is a ‘buzz’ topic about which an MCAIG member is on hand for a full month in order to discuss and answer questions about it and share experience and knowledge. This topic is usually a topic formally written about for OT News and/or the MCAIG newsletter. Within the forum there is also access to a wide range of downloads.
The forum also has the potential for you to access a potential sample for research purposes.
National and International VdT Model of Creative Ability conferences, London
MCAIG members receive a discount on the registration fee for the National and International VdT Model of Creative Ability Conferences organised by ICAN, therefore, the annual subscription is recouped just from this alone. The 2011 conference is being held in South Africa. The next ICAN conference for the UK will be in 2013

MCAIG members’ Newsletter
An important and valuable benefit of membership is the Newsletter ‘Participation’ that informs members of recent developments and issues in education and practice. To view a sample newsletter, click on the front cover below.

Subgroups
MCAIG members have access to MCAIG Subgroups via the members’ area. The subgroups meet to share their use of the model within their particular services and fields of practice.
Awards and Grants
A Travel Bursary and a Research Grant are available to financially support occupational therapists in furthering their knowledge of the use of the model. Additionally, there is an Award for occupational therapy support workers in recognition of their significant contribution to developing the use of the model by unqualified occupational therapy team members.
These awards are granted annually and are only available to MCAIG members. Click here to see a piece written by a recipient of one of the awards, which later featured in OT News.
